New iPad Pro 10.5" In The Works

When you're a leader in the innovation world, what's next after releasing a hugely acclaimed tablet in the form of the Apple iPad Pro? A better model in a mid-range size, according to renowned KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
This is the rumour setting the tech world abuzz as experts ponder the future of the iPad Pro line - a range that has already received rave reviews courtesy of the initial 12.9-inch model and the subsequent, often touted as better, 9.7-inch variety.

Noted by PC Advisor as "the best iPad Apple has ever made", the Pro range is due for a shake-up, but how, what and when remain the questions on everyone's mind.
Renowned for his accuracy when it comes to all things Apple, noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has recently come out claiming next year will see a new addition to the Pro range in the form of the iPad Pro 10.5.
With all the trimmings of the refined 9.7 and perhaps more, it's a bid to embrace the growing base of government and educational clientele.
"If the iPad comes in a larger size, such as a 10.5-inch model, we believe it will be helpful to bid for tenders within the commercial and education markets. As a result, we expect Apple to launch a 10.5-inch iPad Pro in 2017," he says.
So what could this mid-sized number bring to the growing Pro batting plate?
Double digit processor
Amidst the hot tips on Kuo's list is the notion a 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch Pro would pack some extra processing power, becoming the prestige models of iPad's possibly growing fleet. They would boast the A10x processors while the 9.7-inch would fall into a more budget-friendly range and settle for the already sufficient A9x variety.
Double digit iOS
Continuing on from Kuo's speculation, MacWorld believes the Pro 10.5 would also carry the latest operating system in the form of the recently unveiled iOS10. Apple announced this system upgrade at the WWDC earlier this year with a final public release expected this month. It is hoped any 10.5 and the 12.9 would embrace this new software and hit the market with it pre-installed.
All the refinements of the 9.7, but better
Coupled with a better processor and operating system, it's tipped any 10.5 would embrace the best of 9.7's refined innovation. These could include a:
• 12mp rear-facing camera
• 5mp front-facing camera
• 4K video recording
• Live photos
• TrueTone display
• 32GB cellular buying option
The general consensus is Apple will hold off until next year to release any new additions to the Pro range. This is Kuo's prediction and others agree. It's based on the theory Apple is unlikely to upset clientele of the 9.7 range by releasing a newer, shinier model too soon. And instead will wait until next year to unveil any big surprises, then keep customers happy by releasing three sizes at once.
In a market where inches equal price tag, size clearly matters. A 10.5-inch tablet could be Apple's newest big selling innovation. But if it does take the middle ground, pundits are sure to expect big things from Apple's middle man.
